CERAMICS - HAND PAINTED in Deruta, Umbria, Italy

The word 'Deruta' says it all - timeless, traditional, extraordinarily beautiful ceramics that always look fabulous. Beautiful ceramics have been produced in the Umbrian hill town of Deruta since the early Middle Ages. The highly characteristic Deruta trademark "Raffaellesco" dragon design is said to be inspired by the murals of Raphael.

Each item is hand-crafted at each step of production, using locally sourced clay as it has been for hundreds of years.

Sadly the number of artisans in Deruta reduces each year as cheaper reproductions are made elsewhere.
